Warm and Cool Homes
Warm and Cool Homes is a tour through some of New Hampshire's best high-performance homes — deep energy retrofits and new builds that stay comfortable through brutal winters and hot summers without burning through fossil fuels or budgets.
Each chapter profiles a real home and the people who built or retrofitted it — what they did, why they did it, what it cost, and what it's like to actually live there. Along the way, the book breaks down the building science behind insulation and air sealing, heat pumps, solar, and ventilation in plain language, no engineering degree required.
This isn't a book for contractors only. It's for homeowners weighing a renovation, anyone building new, and the just-curious who want to understand what a truly comfortable, net-zero home actually takes.
Every home in the book has a companion video walkthrough — free to watch, no purchase necessary. Look for the Video Resources link at the top of this site.
